What’s Solid-State Battery?
Solid-State Battery is the next-generation rechargeable battery which “Electrolyte” is solid. Electrolyte of current lithium battery is liquid and therefore, has disadvantage which is the restriction of environment of use. There is volume contraction by temperature, may lose function when temperature is low or possibility of ignition when temperature becomes high. To avoid leakage of electrolyte, it needs to be designed strongly structured and there are restrictions of shape and difficulty of miniaturization. Solid-State Battery is what expected to solve these problems as next generation rechargeable battery.
There are what is called “Solid-State Battery” and “Semi-Solid-State Battery”. Solid-state battery is which electrolyte is completely solid. Electrolyte of Semi-Solid-State Battery is not completely solid, but it does not contain organic binder and conductive auxiliary agent. There are several types of structure and production method; chip type which is similar to MLCC products, designing in any shape by replacing electrode forming process from coating to screen printing, etc.
